Did being on set for “Killing Zac Efron” nearly kill the titular star?

After reports by Australia's Sunday Telegraph revealed that the former Disney star was allegedly airlifted by emergency responders and transported to a private hospital, fans began to express their concern online.

On Sunday, however, Efron took to Instagram to confirm that he was sick while in Papua New Guinea though he “bounced back quick.”

Following the news of his recovery, the internet did what it does best:

Turn his near-fatal contraction of an alleged bacterial infection into a meme. After all, there is irony in the show being called “Killing Zac Efron” and then this instance occurring while filming.

The upcoming series follows Efron as he goes off-the-grid for 21 days to explore the corners of the world, loosely based on his YouTube series “Off the Grid w/ Zac Efron” which he films with his brother, Dylan.

The show’s executive producer, Lydia Tenaglia, described the aptly-titled show as “a wild, one-of-a-kind immersive journey into Zac’s world as he travels through remote locations in search of adventure.”

“Killing Zac Efron” is among many other star-studded shows like “Chrissy’s Court” with Chrissy Teigen and “Cup of Joe” with Joe Jonas exclusive to Quibi.

Quibi, the streaming service hosting these shows, is set to launch in April 2020.
