Gigi Hadid's mother Yolanda Hadid has claimed that Zayn Malik "struck" her and is considering taking the matter further with the police.

Zayn Malik — father to Gigi's daughter Khai — responded via Twitter and said that he has 'agreed not to contest claims arising from an argument' and alleges the incident involved nothing more than an exchange of "harsh words."

TMZ reports, that the former Real Housewife of Beverly Hills maintains that last week the 28-year-old singer "struck" her and she's considering filing a police report over the alleged assault.

In Zayn's twitter response he claimed that the incident was triggered by trying to "protect a safe space" for one-year-old Khai.

He also cast doubt over his relationship with Gig Hadid as he said in the statement that they will "co-parent" their daughter, suggesting they may not be together at this time.

"As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private safe for my daughter to grow up in," Zayn Malik began. A place where private family matters aren't thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart.
